Marshfield’s bid for its first state football championship since 1992 failed Saturday at Hillsboro Stadium as Cottage Grove won the school’s first state championship 48-14. The Lions finish the season unbeaten at 12-0, while the Pirates end at 11-1. The two schools will be in the same league beginning next fall.
