Report from Coach Steve Delgado. The day was long and hot at the Middle School State Meet in La Pine on Saturday but the Pirates came to compete. Earning State Champion titles in the Boys 1500 (Tristin Lemmons), 200 (Devin Benson), 4×100 (River Ginn-Forsberg, Tristin Lemmons, Chase Howerton, Devin Benson), and 4×400 (River Ginn-Forsberg, Chase Howerton, Jeremy Roe, Tristin Lemmons) and Girls titles in Pole Vault (Khaley Aguilar; new meet record at 10′ 6″), High Jump (Mallory Heyer; in a lifetime PR of 5’ 0”, and 800 (Tess Garrett in a lifetime PR of 2:27). Boys scored runner up marks in the 100 (Devin Benson) and 400 (River Ginn-Forsberg). Girls nabbed 2nd in 100 hurdles (Khaley Aguilar) and 4×400. Ravyn Miranda grabbed third in the 100 (almost half second lifetime PR) and Long Jump. Chase Howerton vaulted into third with a lifetime PR at 11′. The Pirates lone Thrower, Troy Liggett, competed in all three throwing events getting a foot and a half lifetime PR in the Discus and narrowly missing the final placing 10th in an enormous field of throwers. Other great and gutsy performances were the norm as these Young Bucs put the cap on their outstanding 2015 season. The Boys Team was second in scoring to Crook County 81-99. Crook County had only one Champion but many team members who scored points in events the Pirates had no entries. The Girls took the team title scoring 68 points to win over second place Astoria. Most impressive is that it was done by only four ladies! The Pirates outscored Crook County 149-139 for the Co-Team Title. Also impressive was the fact that many programs had only one Champion, a few had two, St. Mary’s had four and the Pirates…Seven! Thank you to Coaches Steve Puckett and John Lemmons for their hard work and dedication! Thank you to everyone for your support this season!
