Marshfield dropped a pair of non-league volleyball matches at Philomath Tuesday. The Lady Pirates fell 3-1 (25-15, 23-25, 25-16, 25-15) to the host Warriors in the first match, and then dropped a 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-23) match to Creswell. Marshfield (3-3) plays in the Hidden Valley Tournament this weekend near Grants Pass. North Bend swept Newport, at Newport, 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 26-24). The Bulldogs (3-1) host Junction City Thursday.

Marshfield’s girls fell 9-1 at Junction City in a non-league prep soccer match. The Lady Pirates (0-2) host Crater, noon, Saturday, Sept. 10. Marshfield’s boys, under new head coach Drew Jones, beat visiting Junction City 6-4 at Pete Susick Stadium in Coos Bay. The Pirates (1-0) host Crater on Saturday.
