Marshfield’s track & field teams swept the Marist Track Classic at Eugene on Saturday. Eight-teams entered the annual event. The Lady Pirates won by a third-of-a-point over Marist, 123 to 122.83. Timberline of Boise, ID was third with 99.33, followed by East Linn Ch. 80.33, Sheldon 77, Cottage Grove 66.5, Ontario 55 and Willamette 32. The Marshfield boys won with 165-points. Timberline was second 125, followed by Willamette 93, Sheldon 86, Cottage Grove 73.5, Marist 70, Ontario 35 & East Linn Ch. 13.5. Individually for the MHS boys: the short relay team of Trevor Johnson, Matthew Hampton, Devin Benson and Zach Kellar won the 4X100R in 44.59, while the long relay team of River Ginn-Forsberg, Trevor Johnson, Devin Benson and Zach Kellar took the 4X400R in 3:32.09. That time leads the state 4A schools. The short relay team also leads the state with a 44.43 set during the season opener. The Pirates had two individual champions in senior Trevor Johnson in the Triple Jump 41-09, and Chase Howerton in the Pole Vault 12-06. Teammate Kamren Chard was second (11-06). Junior Tyler Post was second in the Shot Put 51-6.50. Sophomore Tristin Lemmons was second in the 300IH 42.91. Sophomore River Ginn-Forsberg was second in the 110HH 17.86. Zach Kellar and Devin Benson went two-three in the 400 52.85 & 53.43. For the Lady Pirates: junior Hannah Beaulieu was first in the 100 (13.09), second in the 200 ( 27.50), first in the 300LH (48.50), and ran a leg on the fourth place 4X400R team (4:32.11). Sophomore Khaley Aguilar won the 100H (16.95) and Pole Vault (11-00). Marshfield actually swept the event with junior Jamie Anderson second (10-06), and senior Mixtli Rodriguez third (8-06). Senior Emily Anderson won the Javelin (105-05), sophomore Elise Martin was second in the Triple Jump (32-09), junior Jaycee Smith second in the High Jump (4-08), and sophomore Jazmin Chavez was second in the 3000 (11:26.44) after placing fifth in the 1500 (5:23.30). Marshfield has two meets at home this week, Tuesday with a Far West League varsity meet, and Saturday for the 17th annual Prefontaine Rotary Invitational.

North Bend’s track teams competed at the 18-team Jim Robinson Twilight Invitational at Roseburg Saturday. No team results were kept. Sophomore Ty Hampton won the Javelin (187-03) and placed second in the Discus (142-00). Senior Ben Dailey was second in the Pole Vault (13-06). North Bend competes at the FWL meet Tuesday at Marshfield and the Prefontaine/Rotary Saturday at MHS.
