Coquille Tribe official release on the closure of the Mill Casino/Hotel/RV Park, at midnight, March 18, 2020. As you will read, the decision is for seven (7) days; however, it will be re-evaluated at that time. North Bend, Ore – After consultations with state, federal and tribal authorities and after much deliberation, the Coquille Tribal Council will close The Mill Casino • Hotel & RV Park for seven days effective at midnight tonight. The Council will review the prevailing situation after the seven days to re-evaluate the status of the facility. The Tribal Council took into consideration the nature of the current pandemic and the nationwide public health interest in creating social distances in making the decision to temporarily close The Mill. This decision was not made lightly. The Tribe consulted with all of its community partners before making this decision. The Mill is more than a business. It is a core facility for taking care of Tribal members and the entire North Bend-Coos Bay community. With its considerable kitchen facilities, lodging availability and gathering areas, The Mill provides important infrastructure to support the community’s ability to respond to emergencies. Our employees count on us and we will continue to pay them during the week the facility is closed. As the second-largest employer in the county, we want to mitigate the effects The Mill’s closing will have on our region. The events we are living through now are distressing to everyone in our community. In the coming days, the Coquille Tribal Council and The Mill’s management will continue to seek out ways we can assist our community, employees and Tribal members. For 25 years, The Mill Casino has been a community hub and social gathering place during good times and in times of distress; we will continue to be there during this time of need.
