Rande Jones, daughter of Ray and Tracie Jones, was crowned Miss Coos Co. 2014 during a scholarship pageant at the Hales Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Southwestern Oregon Community College in Coos Bay Saturday night, Feb. 1. Jones received a two year tuition waiver at SWOCC, plus an $8,000 scholarship to Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, a $2,000 scholarship from Thomas & Sons and Sause Bros. First runner-up Kaila Tripp received $1,500 from Fran Capehart of Coquille and Monte Mendehall from Pacific Power. Elissa Kilmer was awarded $500 academic achievement award from South Coast Orthopedic and South Coast Surgery Center. She maintains a 4.0 gpa at Marshfield High School. Kilmer also earned the $200 Betty Golden Memorial Scholarship. Carolee Hefner, a senior at NBHS won the Miss Congeniality Award, voted on by the contestants, and received a $500 scholarship. Brianna Patnode was honored as the Miss Miracle Maker for raising $200 for the Children’s Miracle Network. Parker Stocker, daughter of Brison & Kristi Stocker, was named Miss Coos Co. Outstanding Teen 2014. She received $750 for capturing the title, as well as $200 for the Princess Pay It Forward Scholarship and $936 in Build Your Own Scholarship. Stocker also raised $290 to become the Teen Miracle Maker. First runner up Kenzie Basey received a $500 scholarship, as well as $1,000 from the Mary Lou Munyon “Quality of Life” Memorial Scholarship for her platform and Community Service involvement. Her build your own scholarship totaled $258. Hayley Davis was acknowledged for her academic courses and grades with the $300 Academic Achievement Scholarship and her Build Your Own total was $292. Allie West received $918 in her Build Your Own Scholarship and incentive program. Miss Coos Co. Princess 2014 is Emma Villegas, daughter of Alejandro Villegas and Rocio Servin. Next up for Rande Jones and Parker Stocker is the Miss Oregon Pageant in Seaside June 23-28.
