News release CCSO. On 06-22-17 at about 1130 PM, Deputies from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible missing kayaker on the Coquille River. It was reported that 57 year old Myrtle Point resident, Denise Stuart had left the Bryant Boat ramp around 3 PM in her Kayak with her blue heeler dog to kayak down river to the Arago Boat ramp. By 11:30 PM she had not returned home yet and a friend reported her overdue. Sheriff’s Deputies, along with an Officer from the Myrtle Point Police Department responded to the South Fork of the Coquille River to search for Ms. Stuart. At about 4:25 AM on 06-23-17 Deputies found Ms. Stuart and her dog attempting to stay warm on the bank of the river. Denise, her dog and her kayak were located near the Arago boat ramp, and were transported to her original destination without further incident.
