On Sunday, September 03, 2017, at 9:00 pm, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a missing persons report. 86 year-old Melvin Hawkins and his 80 year-old wife Alice Hawkins were reported missing by a family member. The caller reported she had not heard from the Riddle couple since Friday, September 1, 2017. They were last known to be with their 70 year-old neighbor, Sharon Buchanan. The three reportedly had gone for a drive in a blue 2005 PT Cruiser with Oregon license plate VBP679 on Friday after 3:00 pm. Their destination or intended plans are unknown. Melvin Hawkins is described as 5’07” 190 lbs with white hair and brown eyes. Alice Hawkins is described as 5’04” 150 lbs with white hair and brown eyes. Sharon Buchanan is described as 5’05” 145 lbs gray hair and hazel eyes.
