News release CBPD. On Monday, December 7, 2015, hikers notified police they had located a deceased subject in the woods off of North 28th Street in Coos Bay. Officers from the North Bend and Coos Bay Police Department responded to the scene and located the deceased male. Officers did not fully investigate the scene until the following day so they could more fully investigate the scene and remove the body. The subsequent examination of the body by the Coos County Medical Examiner revealed no traumatic injuries on the body. Dental records were used to positively identify the remains as the missing North Bend man, Douglas Gray. Mr. Gray had been reported missing by his wife when he walked away from her vehicle in Coos Bay on October 4, 2015 in the parking lot of the Coos Bay Walmart store. Mr. Gray had not been seen since the day he was reported missing even though public notices were distributed in Oregon and California. Mr. Gray was determined to have died from exposure and hypothermia.
