Missing Person Found, Jan. 24

CBPD news release.  On Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at approximately 1:30 pm, the Coos Bay Police Department was contacted by the North Bend Police Department, who had officers on scene of a deceased male subject.  The body of a deceased male was located near the North Bend Boat ramp near California Street in North Bend. North Bend Officers informed Coos Bay Police Department that the deceased subject appeared to be that of Willard Dean Canfield, who had gone missing out of Coos Bay on December 15th, 2017.  The male appeared to have had been there for some time. After a more thorough examination, as well as locating some personal property in the male’s clothing, police were able to identify the body was that of Willard Dean Canfield.  A thorough scene investigation was conducted and there were no indications or evidence to suggest Willard Canfield had been a victim of violence or criminal activity.  Instead, his death appeared to be as a result of natural occurrences.
