The body of a 17-year old male youth from Grants Pass was found in the Pacific Ocean off of Brookings where a small plane went down on the night of July Fourth killing the pilot, his son, and the son’s friend Ryan Merker. The bodies of John and Max Belnap were found within two weeks of the crash, but rough weather made the search for Merker more difficult. Searchers returned to the ocean on Sunday, August 7, and found the youth’s body about 11 a.m., within 120-feet of the wreckage.
