Motorcycle Thief Caught, May 13

News release Lincoln Co. Sheriff’s Office. On May 9, 2016 at approximately 1:00pm, Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies took a report of a stolen Honda CBR 600 motorcycle from the 300 block of NW John Street in Waldport, Oregon. At approximately 8:30pm, the motorcycle owner called the Sheriff’s Office dispatch center and reported his motorcycle was located by a friend at the Baymart on NW Bayshore Drive. It was further reported the suspect involved in the theft was believed to have fled from the area northbound on Highway 101 in a red BMW sedan. The victim advised a friend of his was following the vehicle. Deputies responded to the Baymart and contacted the victim who was with his stolen motorcycle and then proceeded to search the area for the suspect vehicle. At approximately 8:55pm, Sergeant Adam Shanks located the suspect vehicle occupied by two male subjects parked in a private driveway in the 6400 block of Fox Creek Way in Seal Rock, approximately two miles north of the Baymart. The two males were detained. During the investigation, a witness responded to the scene and positively identified one of the subjects as being in possession of the stolen motorcycle earlier in the day. The subject, identified as 38 year old Vancouver, WA resident Josef Todd Keys, was subsequently taken into custody. Keys was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail on one count each of Unauthorized use of a vehicle and Possession of a stolen vehicle. His bail was set at $100,000. The motorcycle was released to the owner.
