Motorhome Fire, Sept. 7

News release CBFD.  On September 6th at 12:55 am, the Coos Bay Fire Department responded to 63282 Everest on a report of a motor home on fire that was spreading to trees, passenger vehicles, and a mobile home.  First arriving units found the motor home fully involved and spreading to nearby exposures.  A quick knock down was completed, and the exposures were protected until additional resources arrived.  The fire was under control at 1:20 am.  Suppression personnel did not find active fire within the mobile home and did a complete search of the building to ensure there were no occupants. The fire originated in the motor home, and it quickly spread to other vehicles and the mobile home. Two passenger vehicles and the mobile home sustained damage, and the motor home was a total loss.  An investigation into the cause of the fire has been conducted by the Coos Bay Fire Department, and it remains undetermined and active at this time. The Coos Bay Fire Department estimates the fire damage to the motor home and exposures to be $5,000.00.  It is unknown if owners of the motor home or exposures have insurance on the building.  A total of 25 firefighters, 3 engines, 1 rescue, and 2 utility vehicles responded to the scene. The Coos Bay Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Coos County Sheriff’s Office and the Coos Forest Protective Association.
