The ex-wife of a Coos Bay doctor found murdered in his North Bend home back in August of 2021 has been arrested. The arrest June 14, 2023 of Reina Gabriela Jackson, also known as Reina Gabriela Matute-Ruano, in Atlanta, Georgia, follows a “Secret Indictment” by the Coos County Grand Jury on May 24, 2023 at Coquille. The indictment charges Jackson with one-count of Murder in the Second Degree and two-counts of Conspiracy to Commit Murder in the Second Degree pertaining to the homicidal death of Dr. Craig Joshua Jackson, according to a news release from District Attorney R. Paul Frasier. With the assistance of the U.S. Marshall Service and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Jackson was arrested when she returned to the United States from her home nation of Guatemala. “Apparently, Ms. Jackson, unaware of the arrest warrant, had decided to return to the United States for some reason and was arrested when she entered the country.” Frasier added, “Jackson was arrested on a Coos County Circuit Court warrant based on allegations that she had violated terms of her probation on a previous Burglary in the First-Degree Conviction where it is alleged she violated her probation by absconding from supervision. That warrant had been outstanding since the later part of 2021.” Coos County will seek her extradition back to Oregon. Dr. Jackson, a 45-year old physician at Bay Clinic in Coos Bay, was found deceased of “homicidal violence” in his residence at 3721 Stanton Ave., North Bend, Monday morning, 3:27 a.m., on August 2, 2021. His spouse, 37-year old Yen Zhou, reported that two unknown males had entered the home and engaged in a physical confrontation with Dr. Jackson resulting in his death. Investigators later stated the victim died from a gunshot wound in a “targeted home invasion.”
