NB City Council Session, Feb. 7

We apologized but this was not an official City of North Bend Press Release.

City of North Bend release – North Bend City Officials fielded multiple complaints after North Bend Council Member Susanna Noordhoff was seen drinking wine during an official City Council meeting held over Zoom. It happened during a work session to discuss homelessness held virtually on Monday, January 31, 2022. The video is on YouTube at the 3:02:33 mark and has been viewed more than 1,000 times (https://youtu.be/pu6U6bx-flU?t=10954). Just over three hours into the work session, the council person is heard apparently clearing her throat, which triggered her camera to put her front and center of those viewing the meeting. Councillor Noordhoff is seen raising a wine glass and taking a large gulp of the alcoholic beverage. Now the City Council is apparently considering declaring that drinking alcohol while conducting official business is inappropriate. Councilors also expressed concern over comments their colleague made during the meeting, including people living in recreational vehicles are not really what Oregon Legislators had in mind last year when passing House Bills 3115 and 3124, which add more uniformity to how camping is regulated in a state that has one of the highest rates of unsheltered homelessness in the nation.
