North Bend’s girls were second to Sweet Home and Marshfield girls placed fifth at the OSAA 4A/3A/2A/1A State Swimming Championships Saturday at Mt. Hood CC in Gresham. The Huskies won with 82-points, while the Bulldogs tallied 75. Salem Academy was third (37), followed by La Grande (30) and the Pirates (28). North Bend’s boys placed fourth with 34-points. La Grande won with 68, followed by Catlin Gabel 66, Sweet Home 42 and the Bulldogs. For North Bend’s girls, sophomore Vianka Hoyer won two events and swam legs on a winning relay team, and a runner-up. Senior Cassie Dallas won one event and also swam legs on relays teams that placed first and second. NBHS Girls Finals: 200 MR – 1. NB (Hailey Hyde, Sarah Kuykendall, Sierra Trichler, Makayla Proett) 1:43.31; 100 Breast – 1. Cassie Dallas 1:06.90; 400 Free Relay – 2. NB (Hailey Hyde, Cassie Dallas, Makayla Proett, Vianka Hoyer) 3:37.31. Freshman Anna Hutchins led Marshfield with two runner-up finishes individually, but she also swam legs on the Pirates two relay teams that placed second and third. MHS Girls Finals: 50 Free – 2. Anna Hutchins, 24.57; 100 Free – 2. Anna Hutchins 53.94; 200 Free Relay – 2. MHS (Khalani Hoyer, Asha Huffman, Kayla Sparkman, Anna Hutchins) 1:42.98; 400 Free Relay – 3. MHS (Kayla Sparkman, Khalani Hoyer, Asha Huffman, Anna Hutchins) 3:47.68. In the Boy’s 4A/3A/2A/1A meet, North Bend swimmers won a couple of individual titles. Senior Karl Stuntzner-Gibson won one event and swam a leg on a runner-up relay team. Freshman Jerrad Perez-Duncan also won one event and swam a leg on that second place relay team.
