Schools are open Thursday within the North Bend School District following a day off after a threatening message was found on a wall in a bathroom on Tuesday, April 10.  According to a news release from Police Chief Rob Kappelman, “the investigation honed in on a 12-year old North Bend Middle School girl, who was identified through witness statements, surveillance video from the school hallway, handwriting comparison, and intereviews.  This afternoon, that girl was interviewed in the presence of her patent and confessed to writing the message on the bathroom stall wall.”  The student reported that the threat was not credible.  NBPD is working with the Coos County District Attorney’s Office as well as mental health counselors to determine an appropriate course of action.
