A Hearings Officer has ruled in favor of the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) and a challenge by the North Bend School District to place its high school in a special football league that includes two schools in the Redmond area of Central Oregon.  NBSD officials, represented by high school Athletic Director Mike Forrester and Principal Bill Lucero, argued two major issues, one being travel from the Coast to the Mountains and two, loss of school time for participating student/athletes.  The Hearings Officer, W. Michael Gillette, stated in his opinion, “It follows from the foregoing that the undersigned does not find the District’s arguments to be well taken and that he therefore has no legal Basis on which he can sustain the District’s appeal.  It is dismissed.”  The Hearings Officer also ruled in a separate appeal the OSAA’s move of Cascade High School’s from 4A to 5A.  The Officer found that the Turner area school should remain in the 4A Oregon West Conference.
