OSAA State Dance Championships
The OSAA / OnPoint Community Credit Union Dance/Drill State Championships are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 17-18 at the Salem Pavilion. More than 1,000 dancers representing teams from Oregon high schools will compete for titles in six categories: traditional, jazz, pom, show, kick and hip hop. Doors open Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m. Performances both days begin at 3 p.m. Each day’s schedule will conclude with a drill down competition, all-state team performance, trophy presentation and grand finale. Marshfield’s softball team opened the 2023 prep season with a 12-2 (5) win over visiting Brookings-Harbor Thursday at Coos Head Field, Coos Bay. The Lady Pirates (1-0) will host Mazama in a doubleheader Saturday at Coos Head Field. North Bend lost its opener at home with visiting South Umpqua 24-2 (5). The Bulldogs (0-1) are scheduled to play at Newport, Friday, 4:30 p.m.

North Bend’s baseball team dropped its season opener at home Thursday 14-6 to visiting South Umpqua at Clyde Allen Field. The Bulldogs (0-1) are scheduled to play at Newport, Friday, 4:30 p.m. Marshfield’s baseball team is scheduled to host Douglas on Saturday, noon & 2 p.m.
