North Bend finished the 2018 softball preseason with a 7-3 record. The Bulldogs won at Hidden Valley 4-1 Tuesday. North Bend, ranked 8th, will open the 4A Far West League season at defending champion South Umpqua in Tri City Friday, April 10. The Lancers (4-4) are ranked 13th. The Bulldogs were second in league last year.

Marshfield downed Springfield 9-2 on the road Wednesday in a non-league game with the 5A Millers. The Pirates finish the preseason with a 5-4 record and have won four-in-a-row. Marshfield, ranked 24th, plays at Siuslaw in Florence Friday, April 10, to open the 4A Far West League season. The Lady Pirates finished third in the FWL last year.
