North Bend swept Brookings-Harbor on the road Thursday night in 4A Far West League volleyball, while Marshfield lost in straight sets on the road at So. Umpqua. The Bulldogs move into second place in the league with one match to go in the first round. The Lady Pirates fall into a tie for third with Douglas. North Bend won 29-27, 25-16, 25-11. So. Umpqua prevailed over Marshfield 25-21, 25-23, 25-17. First place Siuslaw survived a five-set match with visiting Douglas 25-23, 21-25, 22-25, 25-18, 15-12. Final matches in the first round next Tuesday have Marshfield (2-2) at Douglas (2-2), Siuslaw (4-0) at North Bend (3-1), and So. Umpqua (1-3) at Brookings-Harbor (0-4).

North Bend’s boys beat visiting Marshfield 4-0 in prep soccer play Thursday night in Vic Adams Stadium. In other 4A FWL matches, Douglas won at South Umpqua 4-0 and Brookings-Harbor prevailed at Coquille 11-0. In girl’s soccer, North Bend won at Marshfield 4-0, Brookings-Harbor won at Coquille 11-0, and So. Umpqua beat visiting Douglas 4-2. North Bend and Brookings-Harbor are both 3-0, Marshfield, Coquille and So. Umpqua are 1-2, and Douglas is 0-3. In the boy’s league, BH is 3-0, NB 2-0, MHS 1-1, Douglas and Coquille 1-2, and So. Umpqua is 0-3.
