North Bend’s track teams swept the 5A Midwestern League District Championships Saturday at Crater High School in Central Point. The Bulldogs boys won with 124.7-points to Ashland’s 110.5, Churchill 108.9, Crater 103.2, Willamette 89.7, Thurston 38, Eagle Pt. 35.5, Springfield 30 & No. Eugene 22.5. North Bend’s girls accumulated 124-points for first place followed by Churchill 116.5, Thurston 87, Willamette 78, Springfield 59.5, No. Eugene 52, Crater 52, Ashland 51 & Eagle Pt. 41. Individually the boy’s team had six champions: 100 Jonathon Chilcote 10.73; 400 John Efraimson 51.09; Shot Put Kobe Johnson 49-04; Discus Ty Hampton 169-05.5; Javelin Ty Hampton 221-04; 4X100 R (Teron Catanzaro, Jonathan Chilcote, John Efraimson, Martin Godinez). All qualify for state Friday & Saturday, May 24 & 25 at Mt. Hood CC in Gresham. Also qualifying by finishing second were: Triple Jump Catanzaro (41-02.50); 200 Chilcote (22.70). For the girls, junior Chelsea Howard won both the Long Jump (19-05) & Triple Jump (38-07.50). She also placed second in the 100 (12.28). Other individual winners were: 800 Celeste Sinko (2:25.86); Javelin Hayden Markel (110-06); High Jump Haley Snelgrove (5-02). Qualifying for state with a second place finish was Annika Strasman in the Discus (114-08.50).
