NBPD Capt. Retires, Oct. 7

Released through the Office of Attorney Roland Iparraguirre on behalf of Capt. Curt Bennett: Dear community members, fellow public safety family, friends, and loved ones: With this message I announce my retirement from the North Bend Police Department. My retirement will be effective today, October 6, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. My message is directed to you and not to City of North Bend leadership and management, as is customary, because you are the reason I have served as a North Bend Police Officer for over 29 years. Anyone who knows me knows that serving as a police officer in North Bend was what God called me to and what I was privileged to do. I am extremely proud that, throughout my entire career, I have served this community with honor, compassion, and integrity. While deciding to retire from the North Bend Police Department was one of the most difficult decisions I have made, I know that it is time for me to start the next chapter. I leave knowing that I have earned the respect of my fellow department members. Likewise, I have unwavering support for the North Bend Police Officers’ Association and for Chief Kappelman. I sincerely hope that our elected leaders do not dismiss serious concerns recently raised and brought to their attention. I have done my best to serve and protect the City of North Bend. Please know that I have always loved this community and will continue to be your neighbor and friend. Very truly yours, Captain Curt Bennett, North Bend Police Department.
