According to an entry on the North Bend Police log for Wednesday, Nov. 9, 8:16 a.m., 900 block Virginia Ave., “RP reported male subject who tried to take recycling from location then caused disturbance in roadway. Officers respond / located subject near Gino’s,” 33-year old Thomas Lee Howell, North Bend, charged with Attempted Theft III, “subject released in lieu of custody.”

According to an entry on the North Bend Police log for Wednesday, Nov. 9, 4:11 p.m., 2100 block Newmark St., “follow up, suspect located, is abscond and wanted out of Douglas County SO. Suspect fled location – after short pursuit suspect was placed into custody,” 25-year old Michael A. Thompson, Coos Bay, charged with Probation Violation – Possession of Heroin. Transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille. Additional charge referred to DA for Escape III and Interfering.
Robbery Arrest
According to an entry on the North Bend Police log for Thursday, Nov. 10, 1:22 a.m., 1500 block Sherman Ave., “911 report of trespassed subject at Ashworths. This dept. has Probable Cause to arrest subject,” 23-year old Kaitlyn A. Owens, North Bend, probable cause for Robbery III and Menacing. Transported to the Coos Co. Jail at Coquille. News release from NBPD. On Thursday, November 10, 2016 at approximately 1:25 AM, officers arrested Kaitlyn Ashlea Owens, of Coos Bay, in the Subway robbery that occurred on the evening of November 9, 2016. Investigators worked quickly and skillfully to develop probable cause that identified Owens as the suspect. She was arrested inside Ashworth’s Market by North Bend police officers within 30 hours of the commission of the crime. Owens was booked into the Coos Co. Jail on a 3rd Degree Robbery charge. “Offcer Shane Dunning, Sergeants Brian Allen and Mike Kuehn, Dispatcher Scottie Lathrom, Capt. Curt Bennett, and Detective Ryan Doyle are commended for the stellar police work exemplified in this case,” according to Chief of Polcie Robert Kappelman.
