Dear Parents and Guardians, We are in unprecedented times as the current educational situation throughout our state and our Nation is quickly changing to respond to the Coronavirus. Thank you for your patience and thoughtfulness as we have worked to keep our children, staff, and community safe. While there are no confirmed cases in our area the new guidance from Governor Brown and Oregon Department of Education will keep Oregon schools closed until April 28th. Educators throughout the State recognize that this timeline may be adjusted as we get additional guidance from the Oregon Department of Education. During the closure, North Bend School District will be providing the following supports to our students and families: Meals will continue to be provided to all students at 2 locations through spring break, North Bay Elementary and North Bend Middle School from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Starting Monday, March 30th North Bend School District will continue offering meals from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at North Bay Elementary School and North Bend Middle School as drive up opportunities. The district will expand their meal service to 3 additional locations; Lakeside Community Park (Boat Landing), Hauser Community Church gravel lot on Wildwood Road in Hauser, and The Harbor Assembly of God parking lot on 11th and Lincoln in North Bend. These 3 new locations will be meal pick up locations where meals will be provided from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. daily, Monday through Friday. The district has provided supplemental educational opportunities for all students on our website – http://www.nbend.k12.or.us/. On Monday, March 30th, staff will be contacting each family to find out some information specific to student needs (i.e. food, internet access, health and safety). All sport practices and competitions have been postponed until April 28th and student athletes are not allowed on campus. During this time all district facilities are closed to the public. If you need special access to our facilities, please contact the district office at 541-756-2521 or info@nbend.k12.or.us The district is working closely with state officials to get additional information on graduation requirements and how this current closure will affect our students moving forward. We expect the state will reduce graduation requirements and we don’t expect a delay in senior graduation. Please follow us on our website -http://www.nbend.k12.or.us/ and facebook – https://www.facebook.com/NorthBendSD/for updates. We know you will likely have many questions and again our staff will be contacting you directly starting the week of March 30th. Please know that we are doing everything we can to keep our students and staff healthy and safe. Thank you for your partnership in that effort. This is a rapidly changing situation. We will continue to update our community as new information becomes available. Respectfully, Kevin Bogatin – Superintendent NBSD.
