New CBPD Officer, Aug. 23

City of Coos Bay release – Department Welcomes New Police Officer – On Monday, August 16, 2021, the Coos Bay Police Department welcomed a new police officer. Officer Ben Martin was sworn in by Chief Chapanar. After serving as a reserve officer since May and logging over 300 volunteer hours in that time, Officer Martin joined the Coos Bay Police Department as a full-time officer. Officer Martin is a native of Coos Bay and is a proud graduate of Marshfield High School. He formerly worked in construction/roofing for Gary W. Long Construction. Officer Martin’s wife, family, friends, as well as members of the Coos Bay Police Department, Mayor Benetti, and City staff were on hand for the ceremony.
