Open letter soliciting donations from North Coos Waterfront American Legion baseball team Manager Bud Grant. I know that things are tough. And everbody is cutting back. So anything that you can do would be great. Thank You. Nine years ago we dropped down to the single “A” league. All of the players have improved very much. We will still be very competive this year. With most of the players back and some new very good players. We would like to thank all of You that have donated in the past. Without you, It would not be possible to have a Legion Team. We are asking you for a donation to help fund the team for the 2016 season of the local American Legion Baseball Team’s Summer Program. The North Coos team is chosen from some of the finest baseball players from North Bend , Bandon and Reedsport, Marshfield Coquille, Myrtle Point and Florence. They will play between 35 and 40 games in June, July & August. The games will be against teams from Eugene, Roseburg, Grants Pass, Medford, Brookings, Central Point. About 20 games will be played at Clyde Allen Ball Park. During the 2015 Season, the budget was approx. $15,000. Some of the expenses are baseballs, bats, catchers gear, motels, bus rental, gasoline, and meals for players and coaches on out of town games only! This year we will have to replace some of the uniforms and equipment. We still do not have full corporate sponsor, so we have to do all the necessary fund raising through local businesses and from individuals in the area. We charge the players $300.00 to play, with a full corporate sponsor, this can be eliminated. This year we have several players returning and alot of very good local talent, so we expect to have a very good team.
