No New Trial for McGuffin, Dec. 18

He’s already served nine-years of a ten-year sentence. Coos County District Attorney R. Paul Frasier has announced that he will not pursue a new trial for Nick McGuffin who was earlier convicted on Manslaughter involving the death of his former girlfriend Leah Freeman of Coquille. That conviction was overturned and the judge ordered a new trial. Frasier says he made his decision to not retry after consulting with members of the original investigating team and the family of the victim. Once the order to dismiss is signed, McGuffin, who lived in Green Acres, will be released from custody.
