The North Bank Lane Fire south of Coos Bay was listed as “contained” by officials with the Coos Forest Protective Association as of Wednesday, Sept. 16. The fire, which began Sept. 8, burned about 350-acres off the two-lane highway between Coquille and Bandon, on the north side of the Coquille River. The highway was closed, but has now reopened. No one was injured. The cause of the fire was initially reported as starting from “downed power lines.” Fire crews are now mopping up hot spots.
