A wildfire broke out Tuesday, Sept. 8, in the North Bank Lane area north of Coquille. Officials initially say a downed power line ignited the fire. Responders were on the scene about 11 a.m. The fire burned about ten acres, but reportedly jumped a road and was burning on both sides. Coos Forest Protective Association officials asked the Coos County Sheriff’s Office to commence evacuations in the area. Deputies were reportedly going house to house to inform residents of the potential danger.
