Excerpts from City Administrator David Milliron’s report to the City Council Tuesday night, Feb. 27, 2024 – Stephanie Wilson, Community Development, “From ages three to seventy, our skaters included a surprise appearance by Santa Claus himself. This season saw over 2,500 individuals gliding across the synthetic ice rink. Notably, our furthest-traveling tourist hailed from Spain, while records indicate that some visitors journeyed over two hours specifically to experience the Ice Skating Rink.” Also, “During the off-season, the tent will be repurposed into an event space hosting city-related activities, made possible thanks to a grant from Travel Southern Oregon Coast. The rink’s operational costs are entirely covered by sponsorships and user fees, ensuring no burden on North Bend taxpayers.” City officials are considering opening Season Three for the Ice Rink in October, 2024.
