North Bend’s boys finished the first half of the 4A Far West League basketball season with a perfect 5-0 record. Actually, the top-ranked Bulldogs are 16-0 overall after beating visiting Siuslaw (1-4, 4-10) 56-36 Friday night. Second place Marshfield is 4-1 (14-5) after the Pirates downed visiting South Umpqua (2-3, 12-6) 52-36 in Coos Bay. Brookings-Harbor (3-2, 6-13) took over sole possession of third place with a 67-47 win at Douglas (0-5, 5-12). The league will take next Tuesday off and start the second half Friday, Feb. 6.

Brookings-Harbor is alone in first place at the half-way point of the 4A Far West League girls’ basketball season. The Bruins are 5-0 (13-3) after winning at second place Douglas (4-1, 11-6) 63-39 Friday night in Winston. Marshfield (3-2, 11-8) is in third place after the Pirates beat visiting South Umpqua (0-5, 1-17) 54-27 in Coos Bay. North Bend (2-3, 8-8) is fourth after the Bulldogs downed visiting Siuslaw (1-4, 3-12) 54-39. The second half of the FWL season begins Friday, Feb. 6.
