North Bend Wrestling defeated South Umpqua Thursday night in Tri City. It was the Bulldogs’ first district head to head competition. Coltyn Ringen started things off for NBHS with a tech fall win to beat the Lancers 35-3. The Dogs; however, struggled early against Douglas before coming away with a 54-30 win. North Bend was led by Aaron Wagner and Kyle Zomerschoe who each finished with two pins on the night.

After three rounds of the ten round 4A boys’ Far West League basketball season, North Bend and Marshfield are on a collision course of unbeatens. Both won their games Friday night and will face each other inside the Pirate Palace at MHS Tuesday night. The top-ranked Bulldogs (3-0, 14-0) beat Douglas (0-3, 5-10) on the road 66-28, while ninth-ranked Marshfield (3-0, 13-4) downed visiting Brookings-Harbor (1-2, 3-13) 44-30. Thirteenth-ranked South Umpqua (2-1, 12-4) remains one game back of the leaders with a 42-38 win at Siuslaw (0-3, 3-9) in Florence. Also on Tuesday, Brookings-Harbor travels to South Umpqua, and Douglas is at Siuslaw. On Friday, Siuslaw is at North Bend, South Umpqua travels to Marshfield and Brookings-Harbor visits Douglas.

After three rounds in the 4A Far West League girls’ basketball race, Brookings-Harbor (3-0, 11-3) and Douglas (3-0, 10-5) are unbeaten. Marshfield (1-2, 9-8), North Bend (1-2, 7-7) and Siuslaw (1-2, 3-10) are tied for third and South Umpqua (0-3, 1-15) trails. Last Friday night, Brookings-Harbor won at Marshfield 57-40, while Douglas beat visiting North Bend 59-50. In the other game at Florence, Siuslaw beat South Umpqua 55-24.
