North Bend rolled over the top of visiting South Umpqua (2-1, 4-2) 59-32 in a 4A Far West League football game at Vic Adams Field in North Bend Friday night. Marshfield (3-0, 5-1) kept pace with the Bulldogs (3-0, 6-0) by handing Siuslaw (0-3, 3-3) its third straight league loss, 29-28 in overtime in Coos Bay when quarterback Andrew Sharp ran in a two-point conversion. Brookings-Harbor (1-2, 1-5) got in the win column with a 54-6 romp at Douglas (0-2, 0-6) in Winston. This coming Friday Marshfield travels to So. Umpqua, North Bend plays at Brookings-Harbor, and Siuslaw is at Douglas.

Marshfield’s boys won the Bristow Rock n River 5K Saturday, Oct. 11, near Dexter Lake, southeast of Eugene. The annual run is hosted by Pleasant Hill. The Pirates scored 36-points, while runner-up Philomath had 45 in the six-team race. Marshfield’s Colby Gillett was the overall winner in 16:47.7, while teammate Sawyer Heckard placed third in 17:10.4. Dakota Pittulo took fifth (17:34.1), Ian Emlet 11th (18:15.2), Cody Harkins 18th (19:02.2), Ethan Cleveland 36th (21:07.4). The Pirate girls were sixth as Philomath won the team race. Madelyn Metzler placed 25th (23:33.1), Isabel Groth 26th (23:36.0), Darci Schaefer 33rd (24:12.4), Madelyn Suppes 34th (24:13.1), Metzin Rodriguez 46th (27:00.2), Rose Labrousse 55th (30:26.2). The Pirates next run at the Country Fair Classic in Veneta, Wednesday.
