North Bend to remove trees, Sept. 16

With relatives of the founder of North Bend opposed, the North Bend City Council voted 4-2 to remove 41trees from Simpson Park citing concerns over the age of the trees and safety to the public. City Manager Terrance O’Connor says they will replant the area with new trees. Kim Griffin, along with his mother Barbara Simpson Griffin spoke out against removing the trees stating they were part of the gift of a park from Louis Simpson to the new city of North Bend. Kim Griffin says they are considering legal action.
