Northwest Natural Gas Assistance Program (GAP) has raised donations and allocated more than $136,000 to help low-income families heat their homes. The donation period ran from Sept. 1, 2015 through Aug. 31, 2016 and included gifts from customers and shareholders. During its 34-year history, GAP has contributed nearly $6 million in aid for heating bills, which are distributed through a variety of community action groups. “The GAP program makes a huge difference for families who struggle with winter heating costs,” said Von Summers, NW Natural community affairs manager. “Our GAP program is a hand extended when other programs have emptied. All who contribute to the program warm the hearts and homes of people in need.” Now, the next season of GAP has begun and will run through August 31, 2017. NW Natural asks its customers and shareholders to make the 2016-2017 GAP season just as meaningful as the last year by giving generously. Administrative costs are covered by NW Natural to ensure that 100 percent of the donations go directly to agencies who distribute the funds. The list of agencies and their counties includes: – Oregon Coast Community Action — Coos Bay.
