PORTLAND, Ore. —NW Natural, a subsidiary of Northwest Natural Holding Company (NYSE: NWN), will donate nearly $110,000 to more than 25 nonprofit organizations focused on education during the first half of 2019. The contributions come from NW Natural’s Corporate Philanthropy Fund. Giving close to $1 million annually, it supports a variety of local nonprofit causes including arts and culture, children and families, education and the environment. “Education provides hope, empowers individuals and strengthens the fabric of our communities,” said Von Summers, NW Natural’s community relations manager. “Our goal is to help all students – regardless of their circumstances – gain equal access to quality education.” Portland Community College Foundation: $10,000 | The PCC Foundation strives to be sure all students in the region have access to an excellent education at the college and the support needed to succeed, regardless of their ability to pay. Stand for Children: $10,000 | The mission of Stand for Children is to ensure that all children, regardless of their background, graduate from high school prepared for, and with access to, college or career training. SMART: $6,500 | Each year, SMART reaches thousands of Oregon children with vital one-on-one reading support and books for those who need them most. All Hands Raised: $5,000 | Serving Portland and Multnomah county, All Hands Raised works to ensure the sustained success of every child from cradle to career. The organization brings together local community stakeholders to transform children into independent, educated adults. Cascadia Tech Academy: $5,000 | Formerly known as the Clark County Skills Center, Cascadia Tech Academy serves more than 29 high schools, private schools and home schools to offer career and technical education where jobs are in high demand and pay well. Incight: $5,000 | Incight serves individuals who are living with barriers or facing obstacles that are preventing them from reaching their full potential. Junior Achievement: $5,000 | The Oregon and Southwest Washington chapter of Junior Achievement inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a global economy. Oregon Ballet Theatre: $5,000 | Oregon Ballet Theatre (OBT) endeavors to provide dance education that is both excellent and exciting. OBT’s Education & Outreach programs include field trips, teaching in schools and performance in schools. Schoolhouse Supplies: $5,000 | Schoolhouse Supplies is an award-winning nonprofit that supports public education in Portland by giving students and teachers free classroom supplies. The Library Foundation: $5,000 | The Library Foundation is committed to nurturing a lifelong relationship with learning and libraries for each person in our community. Wind & Oar Boat School: $5,000 | Wind & Oar Boat School is an Oregon nonprofit youth education organization dedicated to engaging and inspiring young people through the art, science, and craft of building wooden boats.
