NW Natural Rebates Coming, June 2

NW Natural (NYSE:NWN) once again is issuing credits to Oregon customers on their June bills. Each year, customers benefit from NW Natural’s efficient use of underground natural gas Storage facilities and pipeline capacity. “By using our assets wisely and efficiently, we help keep customers’ bills low year-round, plus we’re able to provide a credit on June bills,” said David H. Anderson, NW Natural president and CEO. This year’s total Oregon credit equals approximately $11.6 million. The average residential customer will see a credit of about $12, and the average small commercial customer’s credit will be about $52. The credits result from efficient pipeline capacity management and effective use of the company’s underground natural gas Storage facility at Mist, Oregon, during 2016. The technique used to make the most of these resources is called “optimization.” Washington customers benefit from optimization as well. Instead of showing up as a one-time credit on Washington bills, however, the credit is distributed throughout the year in the form of lower gas costs. In the last 11 years, Oregon customers have received more than $105 million in bill credits from optimized pipeline and Storage capacity.
