This Friday, June 16th, and Saturday, June 17th, the OACA will be celebrating the 45th Anniversary of their Summer Basketball All Star games with six games. On Friday the Series will be hosted by Northwest Christian University in Eugene, and on Saturday, will visit Wilsonville High School in Wilsonville. Friday game times are 5:00 (5A/6A all stars) , 6:30 & 8:15 (4A/3A/2A all stars). Saturday’s games will be at 3:00 & 4:30 (2A/3A/4A) and 6:15 (6A/5A). The Series format has the 2A, 3A, 4A All stars divided geographically (by leagues) into four squads, North, South, East, & West. Senior prep all stars are invited from each league based upon All State and all League recommendations from coaches. This format allows for a mini-series, with semi finals on Friday and the Consolation & Championship games on Saturday. The 5A-6A all stars are divided in a State v Metro format (again based upon leagues). Seniors all stars are invited to compete in an annual, two game series. This year’s rosters show no players from the Bay Area participating, but Coos County will be represented by players from Bandon, Zane Olive & Austin Moore.  Their coach, Ken Nice is coaching their team, the South All Stars in the North/South game.  The Series first was played in 1968, but did not become an annual event for a few years. Since its inception, the Series can boast of such Oregon prep greats as Danny Ainge, AC Green, Damon Stoudamire, Luke Jackson, Brian Jackson, , Jacoby Ellsbury, Canaan Chatman, Ron Grady, Mike McShane, Logan Garvin, Jason Hartford, and Derek Anderson to name a few. Souvenir programs, T shirts, and concessions are available each night. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 / students, $3/Seniors, $2/middle school.
