OCCI Offers Virtual Cooking Classes, Feb. 12

Coos Bay, OR – Southwestern Oregon Community College’s Oregon Coast Culinary Institute is excited to be offering community cooking classes, done virtually, throughout winter term. Classes include an ingredients box that participants pick-up at OCCI the day before each class, from 3 to 5 pm. We have a no-contact procedure. Face coverings are required. All classes are conducted live using Zoom from 11am to 2 pm. Each class: $75 (unless otherwise noted). Include a phone number and a representative will contact you to arrange for payment. Instructions for picking up your food supply box and joining the Zoom virtual class will be emailed to you. CRT 0107 65 THE MYSTERY OF SOURDOUGH – Chef Gaudette will guide you through the mysterious process that it takes to care for a sourdough start and create amazing bread in this hands-on class. Along your journey Chef will break it down to understandable basics so that you can continue to create delicious sourdough bread in your own kitchen. Instructor: Chelsea Gaudette Day: Saturday, February 20, 2021. CRT 0140 65 SOUP DU JOUR – This class will explore a surprise soup chosen by Chef Torres. The soup will either be a clear or thick soup. Clear soups include flavored stocks, broths, and consommés, and include soups such as chicken noodle soup and French onion soup. Thick soups include cream and purée soups, such as bisques or cream of tomato soup. Instructor: Randy Torres Day: Saturday, February 27, 2021. CRT 0101 65 JUST DESSERTS – In this hands-on class you will receive expert instruction on creating Chef Torres’ chosen menu of truly tempting desserts that will take your meal to the next level.
