ODFW and OR-FNAWS to host online workshop for bighorn sheep, Rocky Mountain goat hunters, July 17

THE DALLES, Ore. – ODFW and the Oregon Foundation for North American Wild Sheep (OR-FNAWS) will host a virtual session of the annual Sheep and Goat workshop on Saturday, July 18 beginning at 9 a.m. on OR-FNAWS’ Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/ORFNAWS/live/ This workshop is mostly for hunters who drew a once-in-a-lifetime bighorn sheep or Rocky Mountain goat tag for this fall, though others are welcome to watch. The workshop provides hunters with key information on Oregon’s bighorn sheep and Rocky mountain goats and covers topics like getting physically and mentally ready, trophy care, field judging, disease sampling, type of landscape that hunters will encounter, hunters’ roles in law enforcement and information about FNAWS. The OR-FNAWS and ODFW in the past have conducted this workshop in-person but due to COVID-19 restrictions throughout the state, the session will be streamed online live and recorded this year.
