ODFW extends razor clam conservation closure, portion of coast re-opens for mussel recreational harvesting, Oct. 1

The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) announce the re-opening of recreational mussel harvesting from the Coquille River to the California border due to two rounds of tests below the closure limit. Recreational mussel harvesting is now open along the entire Oregon coast. Additionally, the ODFW also announce that the conservation closure of razor clamming on Clatsop Beaches will extend until November 1st, 2018 at the earliest. The conservation closure is being extended due to a recent stock assessment indicating a lower than expected proportion of large clams on these beaches. ODFW will seek public comment on management options going forward.
