ODFW lifts Sixes River angling closure, Oct. 28

GOLD BEACH, Ore – With recent significant rain on the south coast, ODFW lifted the low flow angling closure on the Sixes River. Although ODFW is expecting a good return of fall Chinook to the Sixes, low water flows closed a portion of the river to angling Oct. 1 to protect wild fall Chinook salmon staging between Crystal Creek and Hughes Boat Ramp. This past weekend’s rain has lifted water levels allowing chinook to freely migrate upstream. Anglers are reminded that Elk River, just south of Sixes River is closed to retention of wild fall Chinook this year.  For more angling information, check the ODFW Recreation Report.
