Stop by ODFW’s exhibit at the Pacific Northwest Sportsmen’s Show at the Portland Expo Center Feb. 4-8. You can find us in Hall B next to the kid’s fishing pond. Chat with an ODFW biologist about fish and wildlife issues or pick up a license, tag and the latest regulations. ODFW staff at the show can also share the online and print resources available to help you make the most of your hunting and fishing experiences. Spring bear hunters can apply for a controlled spring bear hunt during the show; the application deadline is Feb. 10. As of this morning (Feb. 3), ODFW has sold 3,829 of the 4,400 first-come, first-serve SW Oregon Spring Bear Tags. ODFW will also host three Controlled Hunts 101 seminars in the Green Theater during the show. The seminars will cover the gritty details of tag distribution, preference points, draw success rates, and considerations for making a hunt your first or second choice. We’ll also share tips and tricks to get the best hunting opportunities year after year. The Controlled Hunts 101 seminars will be held in the Green Theater at the following dates and times. No pre-registration is required and the seminar is free with paid admission to the show. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.; Friday, Feb. 6, 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 8, 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
