The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking individuals interested in representing commercial fishing interests on the Commercial Fishery Permit Board. The Permit Board is composed of three individuals representing commercial fishers from each fishery plus two at-large public members. Currently, there are 11 vacant positions to represent the following fisheries: sea urchin, roe herring, Columbia River gillnet salmon, ocean shrimp/scallop, brine shrimp, blue and black rockfish, and nearshore fisheries. To be considered as a board member, individuals must submit a resume that describes their career and/or public service history to DeAnna Erickson, ODFW Licensing Services Manager, at ODFW, 4034 Fairview Industrial Dr. SE, Salem, OR 97302, or e-mail it to deanna.m.erickson@state.or.us. The Commercial Fishery Permit Board reviews limited entry permit renewal and transfer denials made by ODFW for the following commercial fisheries: sea urchin, roe herring, Columbia River gillnet salmon, ocean troll salmon, ocean shrimp/scallop, ocean crab, sardine, bay clam dive, brine shrimp, blue and black rockfish and nearshore fisheries. Members of the board receive no compensation for services. They are reimbursed for travel and other expenses incurred in the performance of official duties. Applicants must be willing to travel to coastal locations and to ODFW Headquarters in Salem; conference calls are used in many cases to reduce travel.
