News release CCSO. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office is PLEASED to announce K-9 ODIN has been released from the Oregon State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital and is returning home.  Sergeant Adam Slater traveled to Corvallis today and picked ODIN up. It has been determined that the bacterial infection K-9 ODIN contracted may have come from something he orally ingested.  After a rigorous medical treatment at OSU K-9 ODIN has had significant reduction in swelling of his leg and abdomen.  ODIN is to continue treatment at home for the next month to six weeks and then be evaluated for full return to duty. Our thanks go to the many donors to the GoFundMe request, and the direct donors to OSU.  Your outpouring of monetary donations have been so much for K-9 ODIN that the medical bill at OSU has been paid in full with money left over.  This left over money will be placed in the budget of the Sheriff’s Office K-9 program to pay for the continued medical expenses in ODIN’s rehabilitation back to full duty from this medical episode.  The GoFundMe account has been disabled at this time. Thank you all for your support of our K-9.  Our thanks also go to Hansen-Meekins Veterinary Hospital for their initial care of ODIN and Emergency Vet in Springfield for their care for K-9 ODIN. If members of the public still wish to donate to the entire Sheriff’s Office K-9 program, they still can by coming to the Sheriff’s Office in Coquille to the front counter. These donations would be used for purchase of future K-9’s, equipment, and travel for handlers for training and certification and medical bills.
