ODOT South Coast Construction Projects, Feb. 5

ODOT release – The following report includes ODOT highways in Coos, Curry and Douglas counties. Projects are listed in the following order: highway, location, project name. Project construction costs are added in parenthesis as appropriate. Pedestrian routes: Where traffic is routed through or around a work zone, pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will also be provided routes through or around the work zone.  Know before you go! COOS COUNTY – U.S. 101 (Oregon Coast Highway), MP 234, McCullough Bridge painting ($31.4 million). This project will paint the steel truss section of McCullough Bridge, replace rivets, remove rust and repair damaged steel. Construction is scheduled for completion in fall 2021. For more information, visit: www.McCulloughBridge.com. The project is in winter shutdown. All sidewalks will remain open through the winter. Work will resume next spring. U.S. 101 (Oregon Coast Highway), MP 238.9, Johnson Avenue intersections improvements ($1.42 million). This project will make several improvements at the intersections U.S. 101 (northbound and southbound) and Johnson Avenue in south Coos Bay. Construction is expected to begin in early February. Watch for nighttime lane closures. Flaggers may provide traffic control as needed. Construction will require some sidewalk closures, but alternate pedestrian routes will be provided. OREGON 42 (Coos Bay-Roseburg Highway), MP 9.6-15.2, Cedar Point Road to Finley Loop paving ($6.47 million). This project will repave more than 5 miles of Oregon 42 through Coquille, level the roadway between West Central Blvd. and the Oregon 42S junction (milepost 9.9-10.8), replace ADA sidewalk ramps and make other improvements. Construction is expected to start in early February. Watch for intermittent lane closures and brief delays on Oregon 42 between Cedar Point Road and the Oregon 42S junction. Flaggers will provide traffic control as needed. CURRY COUNTY – U.S. 101 (Oregon Coast Highway), MP 328, Isaac Lee Patterson (Rogue River) Bridge repair ($3.3 million). Construction is complete. Watch for intermittent shoulder closures for sign removal and cleanup. U.S. 101 (Oregon Coast Highway), MP 341-348, Tree and vegetation removal project ($170,000). Watch for intermittent lane closures on U.S. 101 between milepost 341 and 348 for tree and vegetation removal work. Flaggers and pilot cars will provide traffic control as needed. All work is expected to be completed by the end of February. DOUGLAS COUNTY – U.S. 101 (Oregon Coast Highway), MP 198-205, Tree and vegetation removal project ($125,000). Watch for intermittent lane closures on U.S. 101 between milepost 198 and 205 for tree and vegetation removal work. Flaggers will provide traffic control as needed. All work is expected to be completed by the end of February.
