On September 12, 2017 at about 1:20p.m., an Oregon State Police (OSP) trooper attempted to contact the occupant of a stolen vehicle on Highway 99 near England Road in the Creswell area. After a brief encounter the suspect shot and hit the trooper. The trooper received non-life threatening injuries. The trooper was able to return fire and investigators do not believe the suspect was hit. Numerous law enforcement agencies responded to the scene to assist. There is a person of interest in custody, and at this time we do not believe there is a threat to the community in connection with this case. Lane County Sheriff’s Office has been designated as the lead investigating agency for this incident.
