A privately-held, diversified real estate acquisition and development company, based in St. Louis, Missouri, has acquired the former Georgia-Pacific mill site in the Bunker Hill district of Coos Bay. Commercial Development Company, Inc. (CDC) announced the purchase of 162-acres for redevelopment. The sale includes the acquisition of real estate, machinery & equipment, and assumption of environmental liabilities. According to a news release, “CDC will now perform demolition, liquidate surplus equipment, remediate environmental issues, and prepare the site for redevelopment.” The property includes two private rail spurs, easy access to Hwy. 101, and 1,200 feet of deepwater dock space as well as a 200-foot long concrete dock. It is also located in a Foreign Trade and Enterprise Zone. The South Coast Development Council (SCDC) assisted in the acquisition process, according to Executive Director Shaun Gibbs.
