The average age median for Coos Co. is 47.8 years. That’s about nine-years older than Oregon overall (38.7) and puts the area’s workforce at a higher age average. According to a report from the Oregon Employment Dept., “Coos Co. has a higher share of the workforce age 55 to 64 than Oregon, 19.0% versus 15.9%. The county also has a higher percent of its total workforce that are ages 63 and older, 6.3% compared with 4.9% statewide.” What is surprising about the report, 19 to 21 year olds comprise 6.2% of all workers, compared with 5.4% statewide.
